E3 Review By -F. Haynes-
Olympus Evolt E-3 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera with Mechanical Image Stabilization with ED 12-60mm f/2.8-4.0 Lens and FL-50R Flash
The sensitivity of the sensor goes up to ISO 3200. By a sensor so small we would expect lower sensitivities, but we must also consider that as a professional camera are relatively few pixels (10 megapixels) for which the size of individual pixels is not so different from that of other ODA.
Certainly at ISO 1600 still produces usable images (though in my opinion not compare favorably low, eg. With a full format as that of the Canon EOS 5D), but in 3200 the dynamic range drops too low (the colors flatten) and noise becomes evident despite all the “cleaning” the signal.
Camera BODY
This flagship has an excellent magnesium alloy body sealed for use in all weather conditions. To understand that is sealed with gaskets and systems that make it impervious to rain and dust.
As mentioned above, this is an extremely compact body and lightweight, weighing just 810 grams and has dimensions equal to 142.5×116.5×74.5 (if you think that the Nikon D40 is an entry level SLR waaay has dimensions 126 x 64 x 94 mm!). This depends, among other things, precisely because the sensor is much smaller than the SLR format “full”.
Honestly I never felt the need to have a heavy and bulky camera body for sensations of “feeling”, while I greatly appreciate the neck take something that does not weigh 4 kg without lens! In the long report (walking in the mountains, for example.) Weight and you feel it suffers greatly.
SHUTTER
The shutter is tested to 150,000 shots (against 100,000 of many other competitors). The maximum speed is excellent, 1 / 8000 sec. Obviously this is the laying B. The Sincroflash is set at 1/250sec, so it is easier to use for shooting in daylight where you need to lighten the shadows or maybe do a backlight.
It can not only enter the self-timer 2s (to avoid the blur caused by shooting), but also the pre-opening of the mirror! Remarkable solution quality and attention to the professional photographer (an amateur is unlikely to be so picky you want to remove the risk that the movement of the mirror induces some rough … many amateurs do not even know it is a mirror that is raised.
Price : $3,150
