E500 Review By -Jayson Tylers-
Olympus Evolt E500 8MP Digital SLR with Zuiko 14-45mm f/3.5-5.6 Digital SLR Lens
Until recently I had olympus OM-1 and have always been fascinated by machines Olympus digital SLR, though I also looked around looking at Canon and Nikon …
Eventually I recovered this machine with double zoom kit on E-bay. It has not disappointed my expectations. Small but not too light, with 2 excellent optics (according to many professional photographers and personally heard from me that read on the Internet are higher than the kit lenses from Canon and Nikon), shoot great pictures … if one wants to use “automatic” may, by pointing and clicking, but you really fully exploits hacking a bit ‘behind.
Noise is perhaps a bit high, but the Noise Reduction feature works well, just remember to activate (activating unfortunately you can not take pictures in sequence …), which sometimes in the heat of the shot, gets out of mind.
The viewfinder is a bit ‘dark little boy, and this in the manual focus can sometimes be a problem but not a big deal after all, unless there is a lot of macro photography in dark places.
The rest is all good, starting by the excellent system for cleaning the sensor which increases the ignition time but a second, not more, than my old compact Kodak is quick as a gazelle …
Has a multiplication factor of 2X (Canon 1.5 …), good for people like me who mainly use long focal length, a little ‘less for those who love the wide angle …
The number of lenses is rapidly enlarging, thanks to the fact that Sigma is developing marketing objectives for the standard 4 / 3 (which incidentally is also adopted by Leica …)
The batteries last a lot, especially if you are not much use to the screen (I remember having a camera can not take “SCREENS looking in” because no light strikes the CCD before the shot … the only SLR with this possibility … the Olympus E330 is a bit ‘more expensive)
